The Heart of the Matter: Impact, and Oil Resistance

Conveyor belts in the wood industry face significant challenges from heavy logs, timber, and other debris that can easily damage even the toughest belts. These belts require a robust carcass designed to withstand impact, ripping and tearing. For slider bed conveyors, the carcass must also provide enough lateral rigidity to ensure the belt lies flat. Additionally, covers must resist the damaging effects of oils that can cause swelling and distortion, leading to tracking problems, while maintaining performance in cold conditions.

Commonly Used Carcasses

  • Nova-X: Dual crimp weave offering excellent impact, rip, and tear resistance, and enhanced adhesion and splice life; 6x the rip resistance of traditional plied belts.
  • Plylok Supreme: Twill weave for superior impact, rip and tear resistance; 3x the rip resistance of traditional plied belts.
  • Plylok Master: Cost-effective plain weave option for less demanding applications.

Commonly Used Covers

  • MOR: Engineered to resist moderately oily materials in both normal and cold conditions.
  • CleatLine: Selection of cleat patterns ideal for conveying wood chip by-products at steep angles.
