The Heart of the Matter: Impact, Rip, and Tear Resistance

Conveyor belts in quarries face significant challenges from heavy, sharp and abrasive materials that can quickly reduce their longevity. Belts on primary and secondary crushers require a carcass strong enough to withstand heavy impact, ripping and tearing caused by these harsh materials, while the covers must resist cut and gouge. For conveying fines in later production stages, it’s important to select a carcass and cover with good adhesion and abrasion resistance properties.

Commonly Used Carcasses

  • Nova-X: Dual crimp weave offering excellent impact, rip, and tear resistance, and enhanced adhesion and splice life; 6x the rip resistance of traditional plied belts.
  • Plylok Supreme: Twill weave for superior impact, rip and tear resistance; 3x the rip resistance of traditional plied belts.
  • Plylok Master: Cost-effective plain weave option ideal for conveying fines.

Commonly Used Covers

  • Titanium: Balanced protection against cut, gouge, abrasion and cold; 2x the abrasion resistance of ARPM Grade 1.
  • Granite: Cost-effective cover with superior abrasion resistance compared to ARPM Grade 1.
